Emile started Environmental Assurance (Pty) Ltd in 2004 after having spent 12 years as an Environmental manager at various corporate institutions. His career started in the conservation field as an anti-poaching team member at the Kwa Zulu Natal Parks Board. He then joined the mining industry where he served companies such as Kudu Granite, Anglo American and BHP (Ingwe mining); his most recent corporate move was to Telkom South Africa where he headed up the Environmental and Health department. Emile holds a BSc Hon degree from the University of Potchefstroom (University of the North West ); he complimented this with an Environmental training diploma from the University of Rhodes and a Masters Degree in Project Management from the University of Pretoria [Management School]. He is a qualified ISO 14001 auditor having been appointed through an European based certification authority (TGA Germany). Emile is blessed with a family and his main hobby is art-lure fishing for which he has recently obtained provincial colours.

Retha has fourteen years experience as an environmentalist; she started as an environmental education officer then became an environmental officer in the wetland section of the National Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism where she evaluated Scoping and EIA reports. Thereafter, she became an environmental consultant in private practice. Retha has a very good track record and vast experience in conducting environmental impact assessments and drawing up environmental management plans for large and small industries, mines, housing and lodge developments. Retha holds a BSc (Botany and Zoology) from the University of Port Elizabeth and a BSc Honours from Wits University . Retha’s main responsibility is the overall management of the EIA process where her knowledge and experience adds value to the overall team. Retha stays with her family in the Bushveld and enjoys outdoor activities such as horse riding, fly fishing and clay target shooting.

Dina has 16 years of experience in the ferrochrome industry in the specific fields of laboratory management, chemical analysis, final product co-ordination, quality control, as well as national and international product marketing and logistics management. She graduated with a BSc degree in Biochemistry and Chemistry from the University of the North West in 1993, and began her career in the ferrochrome industry that same year. She joined Hernic in 1997 as Chief Analyst and was later promoted to the position of Laboratory Manager. She was subsequently given the additional responsibilities of final product and quality control.
Dina completed her Master of Business Administration degree at the University of the North West in 2004 after which she transferred to Hernic’s marketing team. She has authored and presented papers relating to the ferrochrome market at several international conferences. She was responsible for Hernic’s marketing department as the Marketing and Logistics Manager. She recently joined Environmental Assurance as business development manager.
Vernon is an environmental coordinator, tasked with supporting senior
environmental consultants to coordinate the ISO 14001 EMS design projects.
Vernon is responsible for the environmental monitoring and measurement on
operational projects. This includes ground and surface water quality, noise
and air quality monitoring as well as general site inspections with regards
to EMP compliance and corrective action. Vernon holds a BSSci Urban Rural
and Social Development and BSSci (Hons) Geography from the University of
Pretoria . He is currently pursuing an MA Environmental Management at the
University of Pretoria , and has a natural affinity for social responsibility and upliftment. Vernon has a flair for travelling and meeting new people.

Henno Engelbrecht is a young and aspiring environmental consultant who recently joined the team at Environmental Assurance. Henno is responsible for the environmental monitoring and measurement on operational projects. This includes ground and surface water quality, noise and air quality monitoring as well as general site inspections with regards to EMP compliance and corrective action. Henno holds a Bsc Geography (Cum Laude) degree as well as an Honours degree in Bsc Environmental Management and Analysis (Cum Laude). Henno has received Honorary Colours from the University of Pretoria for both his undergraduate and postgraduate academic achievements. He also received the Lecturers Award for Geography at under graduate level as well as the Lecturers award for Environmental Management and Analysis during his postgraduate studies. He also obtained the highest mark for his Honours project related to estuarine dynamics and is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. Henno is very adventurous and has a special love for extreme sports.

Ilze is an experienced environmentalist who started her career as an environmental officer at Spoornet in 2001. Thereafter she moved to Strategic Environmental Focus (SEF) where she was an environmental consultant. Ilze has a very good track record in conducting environmental impact assessments and drawing up environmental management plans for large and small commercial, industrial, housing and mining developments. Ilze holds a M.A. (Geography and Environmental Management) from Rand Afrikaans University .
